We are glad to announce that the Herb Alpert Music Center is now a member of our wonderful community.
A part of the Los Angeles City College, the school is named after the famous jazz trumpeter who in 2016 donated 10.1 million dollars to the College, in order to support economically disadvantaged young talents with tuition-free education.
The story of the College’s Music Department started in 1946, when the Commercial Music curriculum was established. Since then, many important musicians have walked through its corridors – among them, Chet Baker and MC Hammer.
Nowadays, the school offers courses in Instrumental and Vocal Performance, Music Composition & Arrangement, and Music Technology.
Time to celebrate with “A Taste of Honey”! – meaning Alpert’s 1965 hit.
