The Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (Reina Sofía School of Music) was established in Madrid in 1991 with the purpose to supply Spain with high-level musical training for talented young musicians, without them having to leave their country in order to pursue the aspired higher music education.
While being open to students from all around the world, the school focuses on musicians from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, aiming to compensate educational shortcomings.
The school offers the official Bachelor’s degree within the European framework of Bologna, and Master in Music Performance. The study programs provided by the school includes a full training that allows them to place music in its historical and ideological context as well as to associate it with other artistic and cultural forms.
